North West Trail Cycling Trail
Sligo Town, Co. Sligo
The North West Trail is a 326km circular cycle route through counties Donegal, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Leitrim, and Sligo in the North West of Ireland. Cyclists will experience travelling through a variety of scenery and utilising quiet country roads.

The North West Trail enjoys dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean, with scenic cycling in remote uplands, through rural towns and villages and passing through the main towns of Enniskillen, Sligo, Donegal, Lifford and Strabane.

The placid trail can be explored in its entirety as a long distance touring holiday as the route meanders through picturesque rural towns and villages with plenty of opportunities to change gear and stop for a well earned break to sample local hospitality and cuisine.

Shorter sections of the route can be explored also. The traffic free riverside paths in Enniskillen and Omagh and the riverside path through Doorley Park in Sligo are particularly suited for family cycling. Traffic free coastal cycling is even possible along the golden sands of Rossnowlagh beach in County Donegal and there is a forest route through Florence Court estate, set against the backdrop of the Cuilcagh Mountains just outside Enniskillen.

The North West Trail also provides the perfect opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of the North West with the route passing through Yeats country and many sites of historical and archaeological significance.
