The Pine Rack workshop and showroom creates traditional pine furniture made from old, reclaimed pine as well as new pine. These items are mainly free standing pieces such as dressers, chairs, tables, lockers along with smaller features such as candle boxes, racks, spoon racks and stools.
The Pine Rack in Ballintubber, County Mayo, offers clients the opportunity to see first hand where their furniture is being made. This gives them an insight into the craftsmanship and skills involved in the creation of a woodwork item from start to finish. One off pieces are handmade and hand finished with traditional decorative hand carvings, including hearts, diamonds, rope effects, cartwheels and a variety of other crafted embellishments. Working on a one to one basis with the client designing the piece adds a certain personal touch.
The woodwork is inspired by traditional Irish countryside furniture. Traditional techniques and tools are employed throughout the feature's development, including mortise and tenon joints, which is a simple joint used for thousands of years by woodworkers around the world to connect pieces of wood.
The Pine Rack is located off the N84 between Castlebar and Ballinrobe, County Mayo.
