Soak up the rich history of Cappagh Pier, County Clare and take in views of the stunning coastline and the 19th Century custom-house that decorates the quay.
With the oldest section of the pier built in 1764, Cappagh Pier played a key role in developing the Kilrush we know and love today. Admire the great, sturdy sea walls and walk in the footsteps of those who departed from the steam vessels, which regularly plied between west Clare and Limerick. One key figure who departed from Cappagh in the 1860's for America was Abe Grady, the great grandfather of legendary boxer Mohammed Ali.
Throw on your swimming togs and enjoy a paddle at the estuary's beach. Or let the kids roam free in the playground at the back of the pier.
