Once the home of Nobel Prize winner, W.B. Yeats, this Norman tower and adjoining cottages has been tastefully restored.
Its scenic location also featured in the film The Quiet Man.
The vantage point from the top of the tower house offers stunning views of the south Galway area stretching over to the Burren. The rooftop is accessed by the famous winding stair that inspired one of Yeats' most famous works, while the rooms are faithfully furnished as in Yeats' era.
An audio-visual presentation, available in a number of languages, tells of the life and times of W. B. Yeats while there are push-button audio narratives in several of the tower rooms.
Outside, explore a beautiful riverside walk to an ancient mill, complete with mill wheel.
A 10 minute drive away is Coole Park, whose solitude and beauty greatly inspired W.B. Yeats.
