Caledonia is wonderfully located within the town of Ballina in County Mayo and only 500 yards from the River Moy. A five minute stroll along the river brings you into the town centre, where there are many traditional shops, bars and restaurants showcasing some of the fabulous local produce. Just a stone's throw from the house is the town park, with basketball and tennis courts and a great children's adventure playground. The town is also host to the Jackie Clarke Collection, one of Ireland's most important collections of historical material from the last four centuries. Over 100,000 items are housed in the museum and it is a great place to visit.
Caledonia is a gorgeous house full of character, perfectly located on the Wild Atlantic Way route, and just a five minute stroll into town. Offering three double bedrooms with big comfy beds and two bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. All towels, bed linen and freshly laundered dressing gowns are supplied for each guest. Guests have access to free WiFi throughout the house.
The Kitchen comes fully equipped with all modern conveniences and an ample supply of quality crockery, cutlery and glassware. A variety of dry goods are provided including tea, coffee, spices, seasonings and sauces. The Utility area comprises of washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. Laundry detergents are provided. There is a Mud Room for wet gear and a separate toilet and wash basin.
The Living Room and Reading Den contain a large CD, book, and board game collection. Both rooms have either an open fire or stove and there is central heating throughout the house. The Dining Room can comfortably seat up to ten people and is the ideal room for entertaining in. Caledonia has an outside covered deck which overlooks a huge garden and is the perfect place for Al Fresco dining. There is outdoor lighting for night time use.
The River Moy is famous for its Salmon fishing and its most prolific beats are within walking distance of the house such as Ridge Pool, Cathedral Beat, Ash Tree Pool, and The Point.
Enniscrone Beach is just 10 kilometres away. There you can surf and swim along its 5 kilometre Blue Flag strand. Fishing trips are also available from the pier. For pure indulgence, a trip to Kilcullen's Seaweed Bathhouse for a steam box sauna and a soak will revive your body.
Heading west along the North Mayo Coast you will find Killala with its perfectly preserved round tower. Further on you will discover Downpatrick Head and its magnificent cliffs and sea stack. The Céide Fields, Ireland's most extensive neolithic settlement, is just a few minutes on from the headland.
