When it became apparent that the future of the Christ Church was at risk, due to the dangerous condition of its tower, a public meeting was held and a cross community committee formed to protect and restore this unique church. Thanks to the huge support received from the general public and state agencies, not only has the tower been restored but electricity has been installed, the gutters and downpipes replaced, new drains installed, the stonework repaired, and the windows and interior were painted. This has enabled the church to be used extensively to enrich the life of the local area and community while maintaining its integrity as a place of worship.
Famously photographed, quaint entrance gate, carved through rock.
