Awarded the European Destination of Excellence for its 'Sustainable Tourism' practices, Sheep's Head is a popular hub amongst cyclists and hikers who want to explore the gorgeous peninsula. One well known route that is named after this beautiful location is the Sheep's Head Way, a 88km long trail that kicks off in the charming town of Bantry.
Pack your hiking boots and explore the route over several days, or opt for one of the shorter looped walks. Either way, be sure to look out for the iconic Sheep's Head lighthouse, stone circles, old churches and the Napoleonic signal tower that decorate the stunning coastline. You might even spot the odd dolphin or whale peaking out from the water along the headland.
Or simply take a leisurely drive along the picturesque peninsula but don't forget to make plenty of pit-stops to capture a few photographs of the unforgettable scenery.
