The open farm, home to over 130 donkeys and mules is set in the beautiful rolling countryside of north Cork just outside the village of Liscarroll. Visitors can stroll along the walkways and meet the resident donkeys.
Since 1987, the sanctuary has rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed thousands of donkeys and mules from across Ireland. Every donkey taken into the sanctuary is guaranteed a life of loving care on one of the sanctuary farms or at one of its guardian homes in Ireland. The Donkey Sanctuary has a dedicated team of donkey welfare advisers who work to improve donkey welfare by offering advice and support to donkey owners in the community.
The Donkey Sanctuary feels that it is vital to educate the public about donkey welfare, and the proper way to care for donkeys in order to help stop cruelty and neglect. As a charity dependent on funds donated by the public, the sanctuary believes that supporters should be able to see the work they do first hand and entry to the open farm is free of charge.
The sanctuary totally relies on the generosity of the public and contributions in one of their collection boxes will be most gratefully received.
On site facilities include a visitor information centre with snacks, tea/coffee machine and donkey related products on sale. There is a picnic area as well as disabled access and toilet.
