The main house of Blackrock Market, which dates from 1750, was originally a hotel and tavern, and formed part of the old street frontage in Blackrock. The house within the market is a typical Georgian house with all features virtually intact. Externally it has an 18th Century cut-granite door case, a symmetrical façade, and original windows. The archway to the right of the house allowed coaches to drive through the stables in the yard.
It has a mixture of products and goods available and is unique in the sense that it combines a broad range of fine art, modern art, collectibles, furniture, soft furnishings and hand crafts with an eclectic mix usually only seen in traditional European flea markets.
Blackrock Market is open every Saturday and Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays from 1100 to 1730. There is usually over 50 traders in attendance. The Blackrock Market also offers a range of tasty food, coffee and beverages.
