Tracing the incorporation of the Polish folk-dance Mazurka into the Donegal fiddle tradition, commissioned by the quartet’s Polish violinist Lidia Jewloszewicz-Clarke, this new quartet will be a fascinating exploration of shared musical heritage. The programme is completed by two of the quartet repertoire’s best loved works, Beethoven’s short, dramatic F minor Op.95 and Schubert’s glorious Death and the Maiden.
