Chester Beatty Biblical Papyri
Dublin City, Co. Dublin
19 April 2025
Free to visit
In the 1930s, Chester Beatty purchased Greek biblical papyrus codices from antiquities dealers in Egypt. Most of these dated to the 3rd century. Letters of St. Paul, Gospels and Acts are among the earliest surviving copies of New Testament books.

Join Diana Delia and learn about the discovery of these texts, papyrus and codex manufacturing processes, the circumstances that led to the translation of Christian Old Testament books into Greek, and how the Chester Beatty biblical papyri reflect early Christian practices during the first three centuries AD.

This tour is confined to a small area, thus making it easy for visitors with impaired mobility.

Limited to 15 participants. FREE, no booking required.
