My Death Awaits... David Bowie and Mortality

Professor Alex Sharpe (University of Warwick) gives a talk on Bowie’s relationship with death throughout his life and work (covering religious transcendence, existential defiance and acceptance).

The lecture will draw on the philosophy of Simon Critchley, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger and Tibetan Buddhism to explore these themes in Bowie’s work. The talk will be 45 mins in duration and will be followed by a Q&A with Alex.

Professor Alex Sharpe has presented public lectures on David Bowie throughout the world and is the author of several books on Bowie (most recently David Bowie Outlaw : Essays on Difference, Authenticity, Ethics, Art & Love).
