Louis Le Brocquy was the first artist to be represented in the National Gallery of Ireland’s permanent collection during his lifetime. His sombre work, A Family, a modernist painting with cubist influences, will be juxtaposed with earlier works illustrating Maura Laverty’s 1946 Cookery Book.
Maura Laverty was a multi-hyphenate: a controversial novelist and playwright, she is credited with penning Ireland’s first TV drama Tolka Road. She was also a prolific food writer and radio show hostesses.
