1947. Holocaust survivor and accomplished architect László Tóth (Adrian Brody) leaves Hungary for America, hoping his missing wife and niece will soon be able to follow.
When the pair accept a renovation job from the son of a wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren, it sparks a life-changing series of events that sees László embark on a years-long odyssey to build his masterpiece.
