The War Memorial Gardens are one of four gardens in the country designed by the famous architect Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944). The interesting architectural features, sunken rose gardens, herbaceous borders and extensive tree planting make for a pleasant photo-worthy visit in any season.

The names of all the soldiers are contained in the illustrated Harry Clarke manuscripts in the granite book rooms of the War Memorial Gardens in Dublin. (Access by arrangement with the local management.)

Guided tours are available upon request. There are free OPW guided tours every Wednesday at 2.00pm from the 25th of April to the end of October. The meeting point for the tours is inside the car park gates (South Circular Road entrance).

Dogs are permitted on leads on the central lawns, but not permitted in the fountains or Rose Garden.
