Burren Nature Sanctuary is the interpretive centre for the natural history of the Burren offering an accessible experience of the unique Burren landscape. Located in Cloonasee – the meadow of the fairies – just outside the village of Kinvara in Co Galway, along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Situated on a 50 acre organic site, the Burren Nature Sanctuary features unique Burren habitats of shattered limestone, ancient woodland and a rare disappearing lake. The meadow is home to wildflowers and orchids in season.
Be charmed by the fairy woodland and farm animals, meet Frisky the goat or book a fairy pig walk with Emilia the Juliana pig.
The Burren Bubble is home to the national collection of Burren botany, here you can learn about the Burren landscape and see the national collection of wild flowers and orchids in season.
Following the mapped out Burren Walk, explore features of the Burren landscape, identify flowers in the meadow, look out for fairies in the hazel woodland, meet the farm animals and see the farming archaeology in the ancient round field and village.
The Burren Nature Sanctuary is an ideal discovery point en route from Dublin or Galway to the Cliffs of Moher.
