Galway City War of Independence History Walking Tour
Galway City, Co. Galway
Dog friendly
The Galway City War of Independence History Walking Tour takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the streets of Galway City. It tells the extraordinary story of the mayhem, madness and terror which took hold in the city from September to November 1920 during the Irish War of Independence.

On the Galway City War of Independence History Walking Tour, visitors will learn about the deaths of Sean Mulvoy, Seamus Quirke, Michael Walsh and Fr. Michael Griffin, which took place between September and November 1920. Every day, thousands of people in Galway city pass by, or near, roads named in honour of these men, yet many are likely unaware of the remarkable events associated with them. With the help of an extensive picture booklet as a visual aid, visitors will pause at several significant locations during a leisurely walk through beautiful Galway City.

The tour starts at Quincentennial Fountain in Eyre Square and lasts around one hour.
