Riverbank Arts Centre works in partnership with international, national and local artists to deliver an accessible and consistently high quality arts programme in an intimate environment, to the population of Kildare. With a dedicated children’s gallery and programming of high quality theatre and workshops for younger audiences, Riverbank Arts Centre promotes early engagement with and access to the arts.
Each year Riverbank Arts Centre presents over 300 live events, exhibitions and workshops, which are attended by circa 25,000 people. Recent programme highlights include renowned musical acts The Gloaming, Rhiannon Giddens and Mick Flannery, comedians Deirdre O’Kane, David O’Doherty and Des Bishop, theatre and dance performances including Teac Damsa’s Swan Lake/Loch na hEala, John B. Keane’s The Matchmaker and Blue Raincoat’s Shackleton, and family favourites including national treasure, Bosco.
In addition, Riverbank Arts Centre is a producer and co-producer of arts events and productions which include Pure Mental by Keith Walsh and A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings, Gabriel García Márquez’s darkly comic tale, brought to the stage for children and adults to share.
