Lough Glencar, known locally as Glencar Lake, is famed for fishing as well as the beautiful waterfall featured in Yeats poetry. A scenic and tranquil location covering both Sligo and Leitrim.
Straddling counties Sligo and Leitrim, Lough Glencar lies in the Glencar Valley framed by high mountains and dramatic steep cliffs. Glencar Lake is a freshwater lake and is 3km long and 750 metres wide. Fish for trout or salmon, visit the waterfall immortalised in Yeats' poetry or take one of the many walking trails available.
