For over 2,000 years, straw bee skeps have been used for keeping bees in Ireland. In order to extract the honey, the skeps were typically destroyed in the process and so, each year, a new skep had to be made.
This will be a day long course to learn some new skills and to contribute to building a traditional bee skep. Materials will be provided. Please note that due to the nature of the workshop, it will not be possible for participants to bring home their own skep.
This is a free event, suitable for adults. Booking required.
