This talk will consider the life and career of Dr Kathleen Lynn (1874 -1955) both in terms of her active support for the nationalist cause and role in the 1916 Rising, as well as her contribution to the establishment of Ireland's first infant hospital, St. Ultan's.
The talk will be delivered by Dr Yvonne McDermott lecturer is the History and Geography degree programme in ATU Mayo. Dr McDermott teaches history, archaeology and folklore. She completed her PhD in the University of Galway and has published a number of journal articles and book chapters on the mendicant orders of friars and other aspects of Irish history.
