Located on the shores of Lough Conn is Ennisoe House & Gardens, just 3km from the village of Crossmolina, and 19km from Ballina, County Mayo. The 18th century house is surrounded by parkland and woods leading down to the lakeshore. Additionally, an old farmyard behind the house has been converted into an attractive stone built heritage centre.
There is a Victorian walled garden, an organic walled garden and 19th century pleasure grounds that extend to the shores of Lough Conn. The walled garden dates back to the early 18th century, however, the present focus is on the Victorian period with plants of that era. Many fine architectural features have been restored under the Great Gardens of Ireland Restoration Programme.
Visitors can also enjoy the Mayo North Family Heritage Centre, a genealogy centre for the people of North Mayo looking to research their family history. Within the centre is the agricultural and household museum and a working forge where old skills are demonstrated. There is also a craft shop, selling a variety of antiques and locally made crafts. And if anyone needs a break from all the activity, they can enjoy beverages and snacks in the tearoom, which overlooks the walled garden.
It is advised to contact the property directly prior to making arrangements to visit.
Look out for the Enniscoe Looped Walk signposts in the car park, which is a 3km route through mature woodland with wonderful views of Lough Conn.
