Talk: Midwifery in Traveller Culture
Free to visit
Many Travellers have strong beliefs in the power of prayer, religious icons and holy water and some have their own practices around pregnancy and childbirth.

As part of the temporary exhibition, Mary Anne Fanning: Remembering our Community Midwives , the National Museum at Turlough Park will host a talk by Oein De Bhairduin, Traveller Cultural Collections Officer, which looks at Midwifery in Irish Traveller Culture.

Join Oein De Bhairduin as he speaks about these beliefs and the folklore which existed and which, in some cases, still exists in Irish Traveller Culture.

This is a free event, suitable for adults but booking is required. Email BookingsCountryLife@museum.ie or telephone the Bookings Office on +353 94 90 31751 to secure your space.
