An incredible opportunity to see the Godfather of popular Malian music at work at Hawk's Well Theatre this July.
Boubacar Traoré plays a mixture of blues and Malian roots music based on the Khassonké rhythms of North-West Mali. His unique, inimitable, guitar technique owes a great deal to his kora influences, but its shades and phrasing also suggest the great black blues men of the deep South: Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and others.
